Manpower.com is a website that allows businesses to post job entries for a certain location and then people who are looking for a job can sign up to Manpower by creating an account and be matched up for jobs, or can look for/easily apply to the jobs that have been posted.
When I searched the website for my initial location, Madison, WI, only 13 jobs popped up. I noticed the jobs that mostly came up were either temporary or contract, only a few were permanent. The permanent jobs, such as an auditor or customer service manager required some qualifications but for the most part, the other jobs didn't require any sort of degree or experience.
I next tried searching for my hometown, Barrington, IL, but since it wasn't listed I chose a neighboring town Palatine. Even less jobs surfaced for this location with a grand total of 6 jobs that were listed. These were all contract jobs and required virtually no experience. Something that also stuck out to me was that most of these jobs were assembly or factory jobs (i.e. forklifting, assemblers, radio testers).
My last search was Chicago, IL. This pulled the most job listings (31). However, I came to realize this was only true because Manpower had a headquarter location in Chicago and thus any jobs they were inquiring for were listed on the website, naturally. Thus, many of the job listings came from the website's company. The jobs they were offering were still almost all temporary.
Overall, I think the website's idea is really great. Job listings used to always be posted in newspapers but I think an online website that gathers job listings is a much more efficient approach. However, the website clearly has not taken off yet because there isn't a large selection of jobs posted on the website and many of the ones that are posted are either temporary, or for those without a college degree or experience. I think if the website was more highly promoted and became popular, though, it could be a real great site for job recruiting.
