When I first heard of his assignment I thought this would be
a fun, new challenge. Come Friday, I was ready to go the whole weekend without
using my phone, facebook, and other social media outlets. I met up with my
friends and went out for the night. Immediately I got separated from them and
had no way to contact them without using my phone. We were pretty far away from
where I lived so unfortunately I caved, turned on my phone and called my
friends to see where they were.
I did, however, manage to stay off of my phone for the
majority of Saturday. I stayed off of facebook, twitter and Instagram the
entire weekend which is something I haven’t done in a long time. This
assignment really opened my eyes and showed me just how much we rely on all
these forms of social media in order to stay connected with our friends and
family.
I liked your attitude towards this assignment! I feel like your experience is a good example of how reliant we are on technology, not just for entertainment, but for communication and assistance. I definitely agree that this was an eye opening experience. We use social media for so much more than we think. it is for sure something to think about.
