It was interesting to compile all of my past blog posts and compare them side to side. Before doing the assignment, I did not think my writing style changed much, but I was wrong. In the beginning of the semester, my blog posts were very wordy and detailed. They were more like short essay assignments. As the semester progressed, my writing style slowly shifted. I had more clear and concise sentences, and I offered more insight to my own opinions. I think the main reason for starting off so scholarly was because I had no idea what to expect in LIS 201.
My presentation of myself in this course varies among the different types of assignments. I used a different structure, even a different tone, in my essay assignments compared to my speeches. Personally, I feel as if my most recent blog posts are an accurate representation of how I usually present myself. I tend to get nervous during public speaking, so my speeches were very different than my everyday conversations. As far as the essays, I tried to incorporate more diction within my writing than I would normally present myself. With essays, there was always an emphasis on scholarly sources, which is not typically found in my presentation of myself. My most recent blog posts have a relaxed tone of voice. I had no trouble giving my opinions, and my responses were similar to how I would have answered the same question in a different setting, for example, in the classroom.
I did not find many errors in my blog posts. There were some minor spelling and grammar errors, but I did not need to change much of my formatting and details the second time through. This assignment was really interesting because it forced me to analyze how I've progressed over the semester.
