When I searched the Manpower website, I came across a variety of results. Under the Madison, WI search, there were many contract positions available. Most were under the insurance, finance, or administrative category. There were temporary positions available as well as permanent. Many of the jobs required technological skills in order to be considered for the position, however there were ranges of time for which the requirements were mandated.
When I looked in Oswego, IL, I found that more listings were present. Many fell under the same circumstances of contracted positions, however there were more of the temporary positions as well. I find it interesting that these were present because more and more close to the city, the more temporary positions were available. Many of these jobs that were near the city were also manufacturing jobs as well instead of technical qualifications.
I then searched Milwaukee, because I'm interested in Milwaukee as a post-graduate city to live in. The company happens to be based out of the city of Milwaukee, so it's no surprise that many more listings were here than in either of the previous two searches. On top of it, the number of manufacturing opportunities were significantly higher. This is offered more frequently near urban areas.
None of the jobs sounded particularly interesting, however I was interested in seeing the opportunities because after graduation, I have no idea what I'm going to do. I have a lot of ideas, but since I'm so new to my major, I have no direction in the area of my major. So, the human resource departments were intriguing to me. I don't think I will utilize this information because most of the postings were contracted for short periods, or temporary positions.
I also thought it was interesting how many temporary jobs there were. I think that because that is the website's specialty, it makes it seem like those are the majority of jobs available. I think that most permanent jobs might be filled in other ways than this website.
