I attended a 2 hour wordpress.com workshop in the Biochemistry building. This program was put on by STS, an organization on campus that stands for Software Training for Students. Before this assignment, I did not know we had access to workshops like these, and best of all they're free to students here!
Before attending this session, I was unsure what exactly wordpress.com was. It is a website that allows you to easily create your own blog! I have always been interested in blogging, but I never knew how to go about starting one. I know there are so many websites out there to make blogs on, so this workshop was helpful to show one popular website for creating your own blog.
Since this was just an introductory course, we only focused on the basics. We started with making an account and picking a theme. Wordpress.com offers a to of free blog templates, which I found surprising because I figured there would be hidden fees to this "free" website. We learned basic tasks such as the difference between pages and posts. The most interesting thing I learned was that you can write a blog post and set it to be posted at a certain date and time. We also learned how to add widgets to our page, which ranged from calendar events to your Instagram feed. There were many widgets for many different types of blogs! I really like the privacy features on wordpress.com. As the creator of a blog, you can change the privacy anytime you want. There are many options of privacy settings, but I found it really cool that you could set it to where people could only see your blog if they had obtained a password you had set for you blog.
This session made me want to start a blog. I am planning on studying abroad this summer in Turks & Caicos, and after going through this session I definitely want to blog about my experiences.

Awesome! This workshop is perfect for your final analytical book review!
