Disconnected this Weekend
I knew going into this that the assignment would be very difficult. The reason being not that I couldn't stand not being connected, but rather that in order to do anything related to homework or my school clubs, I had to use email, websites, and social media. I intentionally finished all of my homework I wanted to get done on Friday before 5pm, however I still had things I had to do on Saturday and Sunday. In addition it was Halloween Weekend, meaning that I needed to stay connected to my friends at all times, not for the reason of being connected, but as a safety precaution. I couldn't be somewhere where no one knew I was and I also couldn't have my friends being somewhere alone, so staying connected for safety this weekend was the ultimate reason I had to use my phone.
In general I do not use my phone just to text someone purely for the enjoyment of texting. I use it to communicate important information, such as group meetings, my whereabouts or asking a quick question in regards to something pressing. The entire summer I was disconnected from the outside world without a phone or any kind of social media and I survived. So I know I don't need to be connected, but in terms of being in a school that relies heavily upon online resources and learning in addition to going out at night as a young female, it is imperative for the health of myself and my GPA to use devices such as computers and phones.
