Manpower Inc.

I started my Manpower Inc. search with Madison, WI. There was 18 results that came up. There were jobs listed such as warehouse jobs, assisted sales reps, accountants, truck drivers, technician, and so on. There was a split between temporary and permanent jobs. There were some posts looking for qualified individuals, such as the accountant, but there were also jobs that didn't require experience and included training

Next, I searched my hometown, but because my specific hometown wasn't listed, I searched a neighboring town in my county. This was Oakbrook, IL. There was only one result that came up, and it was for an installation coordinator that requires a high school degree and 2 years minimum of related experience.

For the town/city I might like to live in someday I chose Boston, Massachusetts. 22 results came up. Compared with Madison, the majority of the job listings were temporary. Some listings include: Medical Billing Specialist, HR Recruiting Assistant, Accountant, Employee Schedule Coordinator, and Assembler. I found the majority of listing related to sales. Most of the jobs also didn't require much experience.

In conclusion, I think that this website can be a useful tool, and can give the opportunity of work to people that would otherwise be left unemployed. There is permanent and temporary jobs for people that don't have much experience academically or in the work force. It was interesting to see how we can accomplish so many things, such as job search, through the Internet.

  1. I agree the jobs are more focused for people who would otherwise be left unemployed. I viewed this company as a last resort for people who really need a job. I felt a lot of the jobs were geared towards people without a degree and there were only a few looking for employers with a degree. I didn't find the jobs very appealing because none matched my skills and interests.

  2. I thought this exercise was interesting too in that it introduced to yet another source for finding jobs. What intrigued me however was to think that the typical person that might pursue one of these positions might not have access to the internet in the first place to find out about the jobs - thus some of the population goes completely underserved because they don't have access to a computer / technology and even if they do they might not know how to use it!
