When I looked up my phone number, it came up with my home
town and the cell phone carrier I use. The other searches didn’t yield too many
results. When I searched for Nate Pond facebook, my facebook was the 5th
result. It took you to my private facebook where you couldn’t see anything but
my profile picture and cover photo. When searching for my twitter you are able
to find it as the first result, and since my twitter is not private, you are able to see all the
cute pictures of puppies I always retweet.
When I googled “Nate Pond” my
twitter was the first thing to popup along with a picture of my dad and I at a
badger basketball game. Googling my number and email resulted in no information
that came back to me. When I looked up my full name with my hometown, my high
school alumni website pops up.
This is just a good reminder that
even though you may have some private social media, your information is still
easily accessible to anyone through various other websites. It goes to show you
can’t be too careful.
